Can someone tell me what a "K" means in the engine designation of a 65 ford Mustang convertible's vin?

It means it's got the high performance 289 I believe.

That is correct the K code is a true 289 hipo car with 271 stock hp If you find one at a good price get it they are getting expensive for a true #s matching K code car.

indeed. it means that it came from the factory with the top of the line V8. the 289 HiPo. 271Hp@6000 rpms. very very awesome.
