Default help! driveshaft scraping w torque/speed

My 94 GT Convertible keeps making a scraping sound when I speed up; hit dips or bumps; or have extra baggage (passengers) in the car & try to take off. The only visible evidence is a smooth, worn ring around the drive shaft directly below the e-brake assembly (where the 2 cables meet).

I've had the entire suspension replaced & the e-brake assembly flattened as much as possible. However, this has not solved the problem.

What am I missing?
Anyone else ever experience this?

I tried the search function, but found nothing. Any help is appreciated.

thx,
G.

Theres a possiblilty thats its either the e brake bracket, or a seam of the body could still be in the way. Ive never been underneath a Vert.

If youre not 100% its smething rubbing, check your Ujoint on the back of the D/S. Those get worn and make kind of a scraping sound

If the driveshaft has a worn ring around it, whatever its hitting will probably have a worn spot on it as well. Maybe youre just overloading the car. No broken springs? Bump stop for the axle still there? Shocks look like theyre leaking?

Your 95 shouldnt be much different than my 93 except for a big X-brace tying your k-member to the unibody. I think. The floorpans are the same basic thing as mine so any body seams shouldnt hang down far enough to rub anything. Jack it up and put stands under the frame rails right next to the torque boxes. Then get the jack under the axle and lift it until the car starts to lift and stop. Should bring the axle up closer to the ebrake and give you a better look of how close it is to the driveshaft. Hit a bump hard enough while driving and you could lose some of that clearance, or all of it if youre bottoming out.

Just a suggestion.

Dont forget to chock the wheels if you do that so it doesnt roll on you.
