press out pinion
well, i just got back from wackin my pinion gear for about a half hour with a sledgehammer, and it wont budge. would takin it to a machine shop and havin them press it out be the next best way to do it?

you cant get the bearing off ,,this is what i do heat it up slight with a propane torch it will slide right off then put it on your other one with the same shim behind it ,,on your new pinon you need to dress up the small end where the bearing ride at if not you will be pushing your new seal though ..you know what im saying ...???
i dont know if you can see where its been dressed at ..

well, i went out to the machine shop today and im pissed [:@]. the machinist looked at hit, and said "wow that sucks". apparently the bearing welded itself (from extreme heat) to both the pinion gear and the bearing race. ya, so i need to get a new rearend [:@].
i would try and cut the caged bearing retianer ,,than see if it comes out ...dam never had that prob..he must have run no lube than added some to throw you off,,,you couldnt move it when you got it right..?
