bad starter?

Default bad starter?

Help I have an 1984 mustang with a 302. When I turn the key to start the car everthing goes dead. The car does not turn over just a click and all dead. If I disconnect and re-connect the battery I have power again (dome light and gauges work). What would cause this

sounds like a bad connection. clean your posts and check the wiring from your battery and starter. (could be corroded). make sure your battery has enough voltage also.

Yeah, get you a wire brush and clean all the electrical connections from the battery to the starter. The ground is just not grounding.
