Default 2nd gear grinding

i dont i know if just my frineds and i suck at driving stick, but when accelerating hard myself and my other friend(who has alot of stick experience) grind second gear. I thought maybe i wasnt putting the clutch all the way in... so i exaggerated putting the clutch in, and still ground it. So after trying different ways of shifting i found the only way i can get it into second while accelrating hard is to really like rfeel it in... and hard, this may be a bad explanation but do any of u have any ideas why this is happeneing? is it the driver? or is second gear dying on me??

Sounds like the second gear syncros are going bad, I hate to say it but you may need to pull the trans and have it rebuilt, it should not cost all that much if you pull the trans yourself.

Do a search on this, it is a HIGHLY talked about subject. There is a Ford TSB out there for it.

Well-started typing before I saw that you has a '96........I'm talking about the newer transmissions......sorry......

I have the grind, and until it gets worse, im gonna leave it. I've heard stories around here that since its a tsb, they will take their time fixing it since you're not paying for it. Some guys around here said theirs were at the dealership for 2 weeks.......

I have a 1990 eclipse that does the same. Grinding sound in 2nd gear. It's all the syncro. Not doing much damage. It's harder to shift as fast, especially in high RPM... try shifting to 2nd in low rpms, and shifting kinda slow.. then let me know. Works for me.
