Default Differential Cover

Ok, so my diff. has been slowly leaking for some time now. I've tried to fix it 3 times and it still leaks[:@][:@][:@][:@] My question is what am I doing wrong? I bought a new diff. cover and used the red high temp RTV. I made sure both surfaces were clean and dry and bolted it back one. I then waited 5 hrs for the RTV to bond and put the diff. fluid in. AND STILL IT F UCKING LEAKS!![:@][:@][:@] Someone help me....am I just retartded? LOL

I've never had trouble either. Do you torque the bolts to spec? I always try to torque when there is a spec and there is on the diff cover. I just use regular black silicone as well. I put the bolts in finger tight and let it sit for an hour or so, so that the silicone can firm up a bit. I do the final torque after that.

YEah, I had a gasket in there after I did the gears. But I called FORD to order a new cover and they said I didn't need a gasket....just some RTV. But I'm wondering if a new gasket would solve my problem.

maybe your not using enough silicone, or something is warped? do you have a vent up top of the housing that is plugged and it is creating pressure inside the housing when it heats up.
