Shakin' GT - HELP!
Okay, I wrote in back when I first got my car in August of last year and I'm writing again because I'm still having issues. I bought an 07 GT premium and had the wheels and tires switched out. A couple of weeks after having them switched out the front end started shaking really bad when I got up to about 50MPH. I got advice to have the tires balanced, which I did - have the wheels checked to make sure they are not bent, which I did - I have even had a brand new set of tires put on and the shaking is still so bad it makes me nauseous to drive the car! I have had a front end alignment, tires rotated, the air pressure checked - I think I have had everything I can possibly have checked on the car but to no avail. Could this be something more major than just the wheels and tires? Any advice anyone has is very much appreciated. I'm to the point that the minute I can get rid of the car it's going but for now I have to drive around in a sweet Mustang GT with a green face!!
Sounds like it is time to take it to the dealer. My '07 Vert (Aug, 07) has the factory 17" wheels and tires on the front. With 20,000 miles on it, I have had the tires balanced one time with NO problems. You could have a bent rotor that is causing the brakes to catch a bit on one side causing the vibration. Let the dealer look it over. If you try to sell it, any potential buyer will pass because of the vibration so you really need it fixed.
make sure that the shop that is balancing your tires is using a balancer that will take into account roadforce. basically the machine simulates the tire running with the weight of the vehicle on it. not all shops have this. i have seen this method fix quite a few out of balance complaints.
you guys are missing one important fact that you need to know...the hub bore diameter of the wheel....jus dont buy wheels and slap them on. Figure out the hub bore dimensions and see what is on your wheels. this can cause vibration. if the hub bore is too large you need an adapter to fit in there, too small wont sit right. also check the back of your wheels if any grinding issues left marks. this can cause the weight of the wheels to be thrown off by having them balanced and not having the weights at the right spot....and are the treads of the tires going in the right direction? check up on those things and it might solve your issue since your car is fairly new
