I'm a 1rst timer and need some help. My wife has a 2003 v6. when starting it up this morning a fairly loud squeak came from the front and bottom. sounded like a belt or pulley? but it would not crank over. had her try it again, same. she tried 1 more time and it started, with the same loud squeak. it idled for about 15 - 20 seconds and the squeaking sound started quieting down quickly. appx. 20 seconds later it was almost silent and she went to work. this same thing happened wednesday but it wouldn't crank over and it was towed to a shop. they found no codes and could not duplicate. tghey kept it overnight and cold started and heard the noise themselves, but it would crank. they couldn't find the culprit and it was no charge. and said to bring back if it happens again, which we will after work today. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thank you all for your time/help/knowledge.

 

I'd look a pullies and when it wouldn't turn over... was it batt/alt related? Might have some belt slip due to a bad tension set up as well.

 

Just replace the belt, its inexpensive. If you're looking for something to 'cover up' the noise like spraying a lubricant on them than, expect yourself broken down on the highway.
