smoke coming from dipstick?
whats up guys i got this problem where if i first start driving my car the oil pressure is low and the car sputters as i accelerate, then it slowly creeps up then runs ok, but the when i open my hood theres smoke coming from the oil dipstick and oil filler cap, any ideas? anything would help thanks
yea ive been checking my oil, it seems i have a small leak by the dipstick going into the engine, its not the rings b/c it would be going out the exhaust like you said, im not really losing much oil im guessing, or HOPING its that leak, and what do you mean by blow by?
Your diag of blow-by is right. Your description of whats happening is wrong. Blow-by is when the air/fuel mixture is ignited and instead of being contained by the piston rings it blows-by them, hence the term blow-by.
To the OP, your engine needs a rebuild.
-P.
what you think is smoke could be steam if you have a blown head gasket. Does your engine oil look like a nasty caramel milkshake? Also your pcv system (breather system) should keep pressure from building up and smoke from coming out. That may not be working and and you could have some other vacuum issue causing the poor running you described. Good luck, hope this helps.
