Default 87 Mustang 5.0 problems

Im having problems with my 5.0 HO engine in my Mustang. When I crank the car, i hear a loud vacuum leak behind the driver side dash. As I accelerate harder, the vacuum leak seems to get a lot quieter. If I accelerate too hard, the engine kicks and sputters a little. I hear that alot of cars have a vacuum line that runs from the distributor, are the 5.0's the same way? I would check myself but its a pain to open my hood and get it back closed due to hood flying up at 65 MPH and busting windshield and bending hood. Please reply to this VIA Private message (P.M)

I hate PM, so im posting here.

Forget the distributor if its the stock piece, they didnt have a vacuum line. Check the vac lines under the hood near the brake booster. There are a few lines back there, check those for leaks. Have a buddy crank the engine as you listen up front. Not sure if this applies, but do you have power brakes? The booster works on vacuum, so maybe its leaking.

Youre probably going to have to open the hood to find the problem.

haha, ok. Yeah, the car has power brakes. There's something making it sputter at higher RPMS, im going to be putting in new plugs this afternoon sometime. I appreciate your reply.

I believe that some fords use a vacuum switch on the brake pedal for cruise disconnect. ck the hoses under the dash.
