Default 04 8.8 axle shredded

Hello all,
I have an 04 GT (Competition Orange of course) and was hearing some noises coming from the rear end. I took it to the dealer and they said that it would cost $1300 to fix the thing (new carrier, pinion gears, etc.). I use the car sparingly with a few trips to the dragstrip and was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with their 'stang? I only have 33k on it and think that it is defective, but as you all know, Ford and/or the dealers don't want to fix it after the warranty is up.

go to another dealer and ask the service manager for AWA
'after warranty adjustment", you may need to push a little but your car is within guidelines, you may also want to call Ford usa and open a CUDL file this should get things moving for you. if you need a little more info on what buttons to push pm me

I would agree with this if the car is making big power and on a slick.

Otherwise, no. 8.8 is plenty strong enough.
