Default Does an 01 Cobra need 93 octane gas

And did I ruin my car by putting 87 in it? I don't think 1 tank is going to hurt much, but am I right? I didn't realize I need 89 or 92/93 until I heard the valve's ticking a little, and then I saw under the speedo where it says "Premium unleaded fuel only".

Should I just go buy some octane booster or wait till my tank goes down enough to put more in?

And will I be ok with 89?

yeah, as long as it was only one tank you should be alright, I'd put some octane boost in it. I did it once in my mach and hated it, but the gas station only had 89 and I was almost empty! Are the 01 cobras high 10.1:1 compression like my mach?

no, your fine with 87....it isn't going to do anything to your motor. the octane is determined by compression..we can run 87 in our mach's it just pulls lots of timing though

You don't need octane boost, or anything like that. 87 is absolutely fine in those. Even if it's not, you have knock sensors, that will pull timing, and it will be fine. People freak out WAY too much about octane ratings. The reality is that any vehicle stock from the factory will handle 87 octane fine. It may not perform as well, but it will not hurt anything. Manufactures are required to make vehicles "Stupid Proof" to an extent. Something as simple as putting the wrong octane fuel in, cannot damage the engine. The computer will adjust for it.

Short version is...Don't worry about it. Put better fuel in next time.

You can get away with using lower octane just don't be revving the snot out of the engine when you do
