To C4 or C5?
Currently im in the break in period of my project. I have a 88 lx with the supercharged V6 from a thunderbird.
When I went looking for a tranny I wanted a C4 but instead some how picked up a C5. Its currently in the car and slips going into gear. Good thing I only paid $50 for it.
Heres my question I have the C5 thats in the car and I have a old 1966 C4 with the 24spline input shaft. Which tranny would be better to rebuild for my application. Or would it be better to find a newer C4 from a mustang.
Just looking for some input on what tranny would be better.
The car is just a cruiser, Some 1/4 mile and road coarse. It will never run down the hwy.

I would go with a good valve body you will need a c4 one like a PA manual reverse. and a good stall. go through it and put in some good bands and clutches swap the front servo for a H servo or one of the aftermarket ones that are out now. and a deep trans pan to help get more fluid in it that will also help keep it cooler and run a big cooler on it also.
