Default hypereutectic vs. forged

since my mustang has so many miles on it it would benifit me to rebuild it than to continue to add parts. but i was looking at rebuilt kits and i was wondering what the main difference is in hypereutectic vs. forged. i was reading this article ( http://www.kb-silvolite.com/article....on=read&A_id=5 ) comparing the 2 and i was lost after the first couple paragraphs...could yall put in more simpler terms? thanks

The pistons dont expand as much/quickly as conventional forged pistons... "The reduced thermal expansion rate allows the piston to be run with reduced clearance. A tight piston is less likely to rock, make noise, and burn oil. A rocking piston wears rings and increases blow-by. The close fit of the KB piston allows the piston rings to truly seal, minimizing blow-by. "

looks like they are lighter weight and a bit stronger also.

Hyp are not stronger than forged, but they are stronger than reg cast ones. IF you're running really high compression, turbo, supercharger or Nitrous, get forged. If you're staying mild go with the hyp. I'm sure someone will say they been running 12 lbs of boost and nitro on hyp's on a daily driver for years with no problems....but why take the chance?

Instead of rebuilding and installing forged pistons, you should just invest in a new performance block, buy some forged pistons, rod, and crank, then swtich everything over to the new block. Stock 5.0 blocks will bust all to pieces at the 500HP mark. Forged pistons can handle well over that.
