Be realistic when you answer. What are your performance goals? If you are going for a mild rebuild the Hyp. pistons are fine, if you want room to grow down the road go forged. Yes a forged piston is stronger, and take alot more abuse, but they can fail, but when they fail they tend to melt or bend where a Hyp. piston tends to crack or break. Both are bad situations but givin the choice I would rather melt a hole in a piston than have one break apart.

If you don't ever plan to spray it go hyp. and put the money you save to other uses, but if you think you might ever put some n2o on the car do yourself a favor and put in the forged parts while it is apart.

forged pistons (Areas units) I had on my 454 annoyed me in daily drive while the car felt downright terrible before it was warmed up. So I reccomend hyper pistons for a car that will be used everyday. Forged pistons are very good for all kinds of performance upgrades and a must when running forced induction or NOS.

110,000 miles is really not that much. why rebuild? is it smoking or burnin oil. if it runs fine just leave it. i have 128k and many others have much more than that with no problems. the 5.0 is a stout motor.

well another reason for wanting to rebiuld the engine is cause i was told that if i wanted to drop a cam in there then it'll be better to rebiuld the whole thing. any thoughts about this?
