Default Optima Battery...worth it?

Well the stock battery in the gto is completely dead and its time for a new one. The car is not daily driven and is driven at most 100 miles a month. Is it worth it to get an optima battery and should I save the cash and get a regular battery?

Editing, never mind I did not see you're talking about GTO. I think Optimas too expensive... You could get 3 or 4 ordinary ones... But if you find the right size, may be you can go for it or check DEKA batteries they have the "dry" ones or Orbital series of Exide but I do not know about GTO battery size... Also, may be you want to invest in a charger? But having said that you might have more reasons to get Optimas than the rest of us: one is the hot weather and another driving very little.

Edited:

(I just changed my battery, went to Walmart they have either original 40R or the better (IMHO) size 48 that fits perfectly while providing way more CCA. Optima do not come in standard size and cost WAAAAY more... I decided against and very happy!!!)

I think any battery will survive the first two years no matter what. Does not matter that its driven very little. I had a car that was like that no issues, always got my batteries from Kmart/Walmart. If you worry get a charger charge it up once in 3 months or even less often...

I've always had good luck with Sears DieHards. Pretty reasonable prices too.
