Okay, well we will start off with the basics. What wires exactly were messed up? Were they down near your feet, in the steering column, where? Also, define "messed up" does that mean cut, frayed, yanked out? Most likely it is something to do with that wiring. How did you put them back together? Did you use wire nuts or crimp connectors? I really would put my money on the fact that the wiring is still messed up.

Most likely there may have been a short in the system, whenever you or someone messes with wires like that, you run the risk of causing a short. Also, check all your fuses, make sure none are blown. Truthfully, wire nuts is not the best option either, you really should use crimp connectors and then wrap it in heat shrink tape. Definitely would let the dealer look at that one or at the very least a qualified body shop. Call your ins. co. and ask who is on their program, they should give you a good reference.
