You can't be serious about using wd 40? That stuff will destroy your belts.
Well I use scrubby bubbles, the bathroom cleaner to clean my engine. I let it soak on for 10 minutes and spray it off and my engine is clean.

I think the previous owner used a steamer on my '96, and the throttle body, alternater, etc looked really pitted and corroded almost etched. Lot's of "white" that I took to be scaling. At least I thought it was the steam cleaner.
Thanks Derf00!! I'll have to try the Simply Green on bug guts!! I've never found anything that really took them off. On a car that has been well maintained, waxed etc. it's not a big deal. Bugs that have been on for while and on prior to wax are nearly impossible to get off!! Just tried this stuff from Turtle Wax that worked better than some, and it was supposed to "wax" as well. Not bad, but not great either.
