'97 Stang shift arm (automatic)
HELP!
1997 Ford Mustang (automatic)
i was trying to help my friend fix her shift **** (wasnt catching properly not allowing her to get into gear) so i took the shift **** off. now im not knowledgeable about mustangs whatsoever, only honda civics, yeah import guy. but it turns out your ***** on autos arent supposed to be removed, its complete to the whole shifter. ended up getting it off flawless but putting it back on was a problem. got it on again after like 15 20 minutes but it wouldnt catch at all so on my second attempt to get it off, i ended up snapping the overdrive wires. yeah go me i know. (but hell the overdrive still works as touching the two wires together completes the circuit turning it on and off lol) so she and i went to the local dealer and the part is now discontinued so its on to the junkyard for me to find the part(s) necessary to get her car back on the road.
does anyone have a general DIY showing the process of removing this and what i am going to be looking for at the yard? id just like know what to not touch or screw up to get this thing out as a whole and replace it in working order.
thanks for reading and any help, comments, or advice is appreciated.
