Question 2000 V6 Mustang making weird noise when accelrating.

I drive a 2000 V6 Mustang with 115000 miles on it. Recently it has been making this weird sound when i accelerate or when ever i stay constant at a speed of 35 to 42. It sounds like the fan is not tight or the band is loose or the band has something. It sounds like a fast clicking or fast pinging when at 35 to 42. Has anyone encountered a noise like this or anything close to it. And my acceleration is not as good as it was. When acclerating fast the sound gets louder. Can anyone help. Some said it was the EGR valve. But not sure can anyone help or has anyone encountered this problem before and how do i fix it. Some guy was telling that it was the rods or something like that. But he was not sure. Can anyone help.
