E85 has 15-25% gasoline, which in cars 88-89 and up should be fine running. Thats when regular gas went to 10% ethonal and they needed to upgrade the fuel components to handle it.

E85 is less dense so you need a lot more fuel flow. About 25-30% more fuel is needed at full load (WOT) and 10-20% at closed loop/crusing to get a safe afr.

Stoich for e85 is around 9.765:1 which on a gas wbo2 will read around 14.7 afr. So you can just tune to gasoline afr's with the wbo2 and be fine.

The fuel is rated at 105 octane but acts a lot like c16 and some say even better. I can add so much timing that I will loose power before ever detonating and thats at 30psi! I have ran as lean as 14.1 afr at WOT without any detonation (was on accident when I first swapped over)

It burns slower than gas so more timing can be added to speed up the burn which makes more power. It cleans all deposits and carbon keeping the motor like new.

Best part is I'm paying $1.69/gal and I get it at the pump.

actually... a 3.8 will hold more boost then either one

the 4.6 just has weak internals as mentioned, the block on the 5.0 will split around ~500 hp depending on tune.

Well that sucks I guess. Think I will have to get a 5.0 and keep it under 500hp. When you guys say 500hp, you mean wheel HP right.

usually 5.0s can handle 500whp but like said the tune is more important than the amount of power.

...Guys, I was putting 625hp to my stock block 302, it's ALL about the tune!! ...19psi in my case!......Another couple of guys in my area where putting 26-28psi in there stock block 302's with a Vortech & Paxton and running in the 9.8's and 138!

All very well tuned!

Well I'm all about having a good tune. I tune my own cars and have done real well. I dont trust others tuning my car. Either they dont know what a good afr is or they hold back because they are scared to blow the motor.

E85 is some good stuff and is real hard to get detonation.
