Best V6 Mustang?

Best V6 Mustang?
I've been looking around for a new daily driver. I'm not looking for speed, but more for reliability. I also want some decent gas mileage, but if there happens to be a V8 model that gets about the same MPG, let me know. Thanks

Check www.fueleconomy.gov most any year,, the V8 & V6 stangs.. barely enough difference in fuel economy to talk about

really, go with what you want- gas mileage isn that nig of a difference initially between the 6 and 8.
The big difference is buying cost- you can get a later model sixxer with low miles for 5-6k in this market. Im a bit partial to 3.8's, since they were the last pushrod powered mustang.

I'll go against the flow. I get over 30 mpg highway in my V6 (ave 32 with a peak of 34 on my last trip from MN to TX). I don't see GTs doing that. I've had several. It's all about how you take car of the car and how you drive.
As for which V6 is best - 99/00. Split port heads/intakes gave a bump in power, but lacked the stupid runner controls the 01-04 cars got (which are a good idea, just didn't work out well in real life). You can pick those years up fairly cheap and parts to fix or upgrade any aspect of the car are everywhere.

I agree with other posters here, it's a matter of personal preference. I like the current V6 model over all the other years. Not only that, but it comes with 210 hp before you do any performance upgrades.

but at the same time you can find a new edge 6er for ~$3000, cant find a GT that low

I'v driven the 3.8/auto. I thought it was a terrible car. I was definatly not interested in buying one.
Then I drove a 4.0/auto. A vastly improved drive train. Now I own one.
Purchase price, gas mileage, and incurance is cheaper for the 6, but power levels are fairly close. The differance is only 0.6 liters.

funny thing though, my buddies 4.10 geared GT usually averages better milage then my 6er, and my last insurance quote for an 04 GT was $10 a month cheaper then my 02 v6.
