If you're gonna get a 6'r then for Gawd sakes at least get it with a standard tranny! Fug the autos!

funny thing though, my buddies 4.10 geared GT usually averages better milage then my 6er, and my last insurance quote for an 04 GT was $10 a month cheaper then my 02 v6.
The two motors are very differant. More than just .2L. Take a look at the design of each.

Both cars I drove were rentals: stock, V6/auto. Pretty good comparison. My car has a stick, which is even better, IMO.

Driving around town, commuting, shopping etc, I get 22-23mpg. On the highway I get about 32. I don't hear of any GT's doing that.

Insurance rates are partly based on repair costs. You can't really compare two differant years. Get an insurance quote for '02 V8 and see what the differance is. For me, the differance was about $10-15 a month. I think. It wasn't a huge differance, but that adds up over time. At the end of the year, it's $120. Over the life of the car........

Mine is a 5 speed 4.0 and all I've got to say is I love this car. Before this one, I owned an '82 GT with the 5.0. Believe it or not, my 4.0 has more hp than the '82. After I sold it four years ago, I vowed that I would purchase a current model. I didn't care for the models from '94-'04...but when Ford debuted the new design of the s197 Mustang in 2004, my heart was throbbing! I knew THAT was the car I wanted! It took me back to the days when I was too young to drive the '68 or '69 Mustang.

I don't know about poor fuel economy, I get any where from 20-24 in the city. It depends on how you drive. If you are concerned about fuel economy, then buy a Prius.
I think you under estimated the 4.0 engine. It has a lot of potential!

A rental V6 is just the base or basic Mustang with no additional options. I got the Pony Package which includes sway bars. Even if you have a basic V6, you can add GT sway bars to help make the car handle much better. PP also offers larger rim sizes too.

Exactly. That's what makes them such a good comparison. They all have the base engine and auto trans. And they all have the same basic option list.

If you order the car correctly, you get a GT with a V6, except for some of the visuals.

The v6 mustang is great. I just got one and i love it. It is a great car and gets good gas milage. Also if you ever want speed, there are plenty of preformance parts for the v6 mustang. I would recomend it.
