I have the big bell and use the same flywheel as the AOD. I'm not a super tech guy, but I seen the thread and thought I'd take a look. The C4 I have came off of a '81 ford pickup with a SB (at least that's what he told me). It bolted right up, and haven't had a problem. Probably didn't help at all, but good luck on the swap.

so do you even have a bell? and is your trans a case fill or a pan filler in other words where does the dip stick go in the trans case or in the trans oil pan? if it is a case fill you can get a 157 or a 164 tooth bell for the trans. your AOD is 164 if it is a pan fill trans then it will be a 164 for bell.

i appreciate it guys i will look into more detail about it but that info puts me one step closer then i was, but also who has messed with the B&M hammer shifters for the 5.0? i know it fits the stock center console but what is the shift pattern like is it like the hurst pro matic? or just like stock? cause im looking into a different shifter cause the c-4 that im having built is gonna be a Manuel valve body so it has to be manually shifted any one have one? and if so how is it?

all the C-4s I do are manual shift and all are in the reverse pattern. I run the Hurst Quarter stick with the Holcomb Motorsport plate that lowers it into the floor in the stock location works great and looks even better.take a hr or so to figure out the gears cuz there is no pointer on mine. I just took the stock 5 speed boot cut a small hole in it to let the lock control come out pulled it down over the shifter handle and it looks stock and it looks like the car is a 5 speed. but if you want to buy a cover they have one out. what do you want to know about the manual valve body?

I have a case filled C4 with 164 tooth flex plate, I have the bigger bell housing. It works fine. Your bell housing size is the only thing that determines what flex plate you will use these days. If you have a bell housing for the C4, pull off your flex plate out of your car and see if it will fit inside the bell about an inch, if it does, your flex plate will work. I also have a B&M Hammer shifter located in my stock console and it also looks great. I run a reverse pattern manual valve body, a trans brake and a 3000 stall.

Well just finished up the trans swap and it was alot easyer then i thought and im loving the shifter i have. i ended up buying the B&M hammer shifter with a c-4 conversion kit and i love how hard it shifts and dead on the shift reaction is it gave my 5.0 some more muscle and it stalls up good and leaves freakin hard i ended up having art car build me a torque converter with a 3000 stall and i yank the front end pretty much off the ground but one wheel still stays on the ground tho so sub frames and in the near future

Cool glad to hear you like it and they can take some HP so build it up. yea if it is hitting the tires that hard you need to get some sub frames under there.
