Default RE: what engine swap should i do

oh yea...i plan on if i'm going to swap an engine and crap that i'm going to rebuilt it and the trans i might do too...but i was wondering...if i rebuild the engine there are certain parts that i need to torque to a specfic ft/lb right...so would everything need to be done this way or just some of it...also...if i get a thunderbird or something like that to swap the engine and trans and everything else out of....i have a shifter on the floor...does these other 5.0s have the same thing...

Everything will bolt right in!If you plan on putting an automatic in you can use the shifter on the floor but if you want a stick you'll have to cut a hole in the floor to do it.By the questions you ask you dont seem very mechanicly inclined and this might be alittle much for someone who isnt, you might be biting off alittle more than you can chew. Its alot of work to do what you are talkin about and will take some knowledge to figure out some of the problems you will run into.As far as the torqe settings, everything has a torqe specification and I dont think you want to be tearing apart a motor when you dont know much about them.It will a project that could take you all summer to acomplish.Either way when your done you will sure know alot more about all this and hopefully you wont have any mistakes that will cost you big.I suggest you get a service manual before starting anything that will give you all the torque specs you need along with other valuable information.
Good luck with the project! P.S. I wouldnt go with anything like the 347 or 351 you better just stick with a basic 302 cause the money your gonna be spending on odds and ends will add up fast so I think 347 strokers and other stuff people are mentioning are out of your league,I could be completely wrong though

get the 347 stroker motor, or get the 302 and get the kit to stroke it to a 347 and get a Tremec T-5 5 speed.
The only way to get a 347 is to stroke a 302 and thats gonna cost ya 1800 just for the stroker kit!My friend has 8,000 in his 347 stroker. The tremec 5 speed will cost ya 1900 atleast.Unless hes made of money I dont think this is feasable.I think for the way hes talkin hes lookin to spend as little money as possible or else he would have just bought a stang with a 302 already!
