Default V8 DT into a V6 Chassis!

Hey guys i have a very important need to know Question? I Was just recently in a wreck in my 01 GT and I just picked up a 00 V6 and i still have everthing as far as the drivetrain is concerned. I need to know what I am going to need to do this swap. I am swapping the motor, tremic trans which i know will swap right in, and the 8.8 rearend. I just need to know what needs to be done as far as the suspension is concerened? I'm gonna upgrade the rear when i do the assend but can i buy GT suspension parts and bolt them right in? Any help would be greatly appriciated! Thanks.

Get the front springs off the GT, to handle the heavier engine. Also get the GT cooling system and the ECU and.. probably tons of little bits 'n pieces.

...if you have to hire a garage to do the swap then this is gonna cost'ya

Yeah I actually already have a shop doing the engine and ecu swap for me he is the one who actually tuned it orignally. i know him quite well so he is helping me out. I dunno if anyone reads MM&FF but he is featured in the magazine almost every other month. His name is Mike Dez of Dez Racing. His shop deals only with mustang and produces some great work. The suspension was the only thing i was really worried about. Because i'm doing a 7.5 to 8.8 swap in the *** end.

Instead of throwing away money to a shop to swap in stock GT motor, just put a blower on the v6 and make more power. Seems way easier, it's cheaper and less hassle.

To answer the question, you'll want the motor, tranny, rear, harness, exhaust, fuel system, cooling system, ECU,front suspension, and the dash cluster as well.

He said in the first post that he wrecked his GT and bought a V6. Sounds like he has a donor car to me. To me that's way cheaper than buying a blower. With a garage you can do it all yourself.

You do not need a fuel system. Only the fuel pump. The GT fuel rail connects to the V6 line with no problem. To add to the things Lil Roush stated, add the CCRM, the wiring from the computer to the CCRM, the hydroboost assembly since the V6 brake booster is too large for the 4.6 to fit in the engine bay.

It has been a couple of years since I did this swap. ALLDATADIY.com was tremendously helpful in looking up wiring schematics for both cars. Ford changed wiring from year to year and you need to look up the schematics for both cars to ensure that the wires are going to the same destination.
