Track Car

I have a 96 GT @ 176,000+ miles with a stock engine + transmission. Transmission is a 5spd and its giving my lots of trouble shifting. Its hard to get in and out of gear, harder in 1st 2nd and reverse, but hard across the board. It gives me plenty of trouble when the car is on, and only slightly less trouble when the car is off.

I have heard plenty of rumors and "ho-hums" and "well you might..." about what to do and i need some sort of definitive options. I have heard that the syncros might just need to be replaced, i have heard that i have to get it rebuilt, i have heard that i need to get a whole new transmission, i have heard that a t45 out of a 97 vert wont fit because the mounting brackets are different. I have heard that i have a t5, ive heard that i have a t45. Im trying to learn all there is to know about my car but when everyone says something different its hard to decern what the best options are vs "well if i had disposable income i could..."

A little about the car, no it was not a typo the engine and trans are stock and they do have 176,000+ miles. I have never had any major problems with the car, wear and tear are always something i have to deal with, already swapped out the intake, swapped clutches, and regular maintenance. Never had this trouble before and not quite sure what to do with a very limited budget.
