Default Help me diagnose squeak.

Hello all. I've got a 2001 Bullitt. I've got myself a squeak problem. The noise seems to be coming from the transmission area. Definitly an exterior sound. It seems to be in synch with the engine. (I.E. when it idles up, so does the squeak. Vice versa) It squeaks in nuertral, and all the gears. Keeping with the RPMs. The noise will stop if I press the clutch in just a bit. (1/8" or so.) I tightened up my clutch a little (I've got an adjustable clutch quadrant and cable) The noise stopped at idle, but It will start again once I get up past 2,000 RPMs. (I tightened it a bit more, and it would start at higher RPMS, instead of 2,000) I adjusted it back to the original position for fear of having the clutch slip. I can live with the squeak. It's hard to notice inside with the radio on. Pretty easy to hear outside.

My thoughts are the throwout bearing, am I close? Keep in mind, I'm new to the mechanic scene. So you might have to explain things to me.

Yea it's your throw out bearing in your clutch.

I'm guessing the actual bearing will be about $20-40. Can anyone give me a ballpark on labor? The transmission will have to be removed to replace it, correct?

I have the same squeak in my tranny too. If I press the clutch a little bit, the squeak stops. I was thinking of taking the yoke cover off and spraying some type of lubricant up in there. Think that is a bad idea? I don't want to make anything spin that isn't supposed to.

Forgot some info: It started doing it at the end ofthe clutch life, when I replaced the clutch and the TOB, it was quiet for a few months, now it is starting to squeak again. Thought I'd throw this info in here.

I haven't owned my '03 GT long enough to have any direct input on this, however it is a common problem with Miata's when there is insufficient clutch pedal free play.It keep the TOB only very lightly loaded and it moves about in the clutch fork making squeaks and sometines a slight rattle. The Miata has a hydraulic clutch so this may not be even a little bit relevant but I thought I mention it anyway...
