Default How the @%$#& to get those A/C spring clips off

hey guys, got a 98 V6 and trying to replace an A/C line. I've got an A/C line spring coupling tool but I can barely get it into the coupling to loosen it up. is it that difficult? what's the trick? please help!

yep, tried that, and it's real tight, but then nothing budges.

is it really supposed to be that tight?

There is no trick....just take the ac line tool or a fuel line tool and right size slide into the end of the coupler and you'll feel it pop in....then pull them apart....no pliers. Same exact thing as fuel lines if you have every disconnected those.

I've got 2 different tools that say A/C spring coupling tool so I have the tools. I pick the right size, I think, 1/2" by the firewall, 3/8" by the condenser. I just can't get them to pop in. Will try again today. Thanks for the feedback.

should I heat the joint up with a hair dryer? WD-40?

oh, haven't done fuel lines before, just got the car recently

Stupid question is hte ac system completly empty? If no so pressure in it will give you a hard time getting em apart.

good question, yes, it is empty. that's why I'm replacing the line, the prior owner put a huge hole in that hard line that bends 90 deg coming out of the firewall

I've used some elbow grease and pliers on those babies and the stronger springs; like the coolant lines, it works after a while.
