car won't turn over...click, click
so ive bean dealing with this issue for some time now. so far ive replaced the battery, battery cables, starter, starter solnoid, starter cable. pretty much everything that turns the car over. sometimes it will just barely turn the motor over(like one revolution, like the battery is dead) the battery is new and been on the charger for two days now. what gives? when i jump the solinoid it starts to smoke.
First off, are you sure you're jumping the solenoid the right way?
It's possible that you just may have a bad battery, even if it's new. I had that happen to me a couple of months ago.
If the battery is holding a charge for a while, and is able to turn the motor over, then you might have some other problems. The voltage regulator on the alternator may be allowing the battery to leak down. You might also have a light or other low-amp accessory that draws down power from the battery over a period of hours. Or you just may have a short in the wiring somewhere.
Electrical stuff is fun, isn't it?
Years back I got a nice van from the company I worked for. It was doing the same thing. I bought the van for $500 and replaced the switch for the dome light that was keeping the light on all night. When my boss found out I fixed it for maybe $15, he was ticked.

find someone with a volt meter. check the output on the battery hooked up, then take the cables off. i had a problem with an electrical short, and even with a brand new battery in the car, it would just click...i found the short and removed it, and it was fine.
also, with the battery hooked up, turn on something like the lights, or the heater...if the battery goes way down when you do this, and continues to drop, its likely a bad battery.

Check voltage from battery + to -, then from + to engine block, then from + to body. For the heck of it, check to the starter housing, too. + to starter housing. (did you paint the housing, block or bell housing???).
The voltages should all be the same key off, then repeat key on. Then repeat while attempting to crank.
Write the voltages down, and post them...
Oh, and check the voltage from "-" at battery to your solenoid, at the battery side, then at the side running to the starter with the actual cable off the solenoid (disconnect the cable running to the starter at the solenoid). Write those down, too.

Good luck. Electrical is fun, and makes for great deals when it is bad.
