I was driving along earlier driving completly calm not doing anything wrong and a cop pulls me over. He gets me for window tint by pretty much guessing i would have tint on the front windows since i have it on the rear window and the quarter windows but the windows in the doors were all the way down. He even asked how dark they are and i told him how i bought the car like that. I dont know if i should just pay the bail and leave it on there or take it off and get it signed off to pay less and not have to worry about getting caught with it again. I really like my tint!

 

sucks man but if its illegal then its illegal. I have several friends who are state troopers and I know around here they do not have quotas, its a myth. But then again they cant pull you over for tint, it can only be a secondary offense. how much is the fine? and how much is it illegal by?

 

I have illegally tinted windows. I am not going to be pissed off if or when i get a ticket. I know it's illegal, and i chose to put it on anyway. This particular instance sucks b/c you had the window's down, but you have to figure you would have got a ticket sooner or later. Since it's just the front two it would probably be cheaper to get it signed off and then put it back on.

 

All i can say is the law is the law....even if it doesnt seem right to us. Sucks though...

+1 to 5sp07gt, quotas are a myth, and I know around here they can pull you over just for tints. sucks though, thats the thing holding me back from getting tint...

 

I dont even know since i didnt buy it and i dont really know much about tint, its pretty light though i have seen way darker.

I dont know how much the fine is as of right now. Either i gotta wait till the letter comes in the mail or i can check online but right now im trying to check and its saying theres no record of my citation. It says it may take 21 days to load though...Another thing though, the officer who issued it didnt sign the ticket. Dont they have to for it to be issued and considered real or whatever?

Yeah, I have 20% all around, 35% is legal. I am sure I will get stopped eventually, and I don't care. I will rip it off, get it signed, then I will get 5% the next time. :P In your case, I would do whatever is more cost effective. Or if you don't want another ticket, just get it taken off and leave it off. Most departments don't have quotas. What it is though is the supers want to know what they have been doing all day. That way they can say, well I made one arrest and wrote two tickets, not I sat around the donut shop all day, eating, drinking coffee, and shooting the breeze. Police is no different than your job, you are evaluated on performance, you don't perform, you don't get promoted, or you can get canned. Sux, but that is the way of the world.

 

Ya pretty much what i mean is that they just try to write the last couple tickets they can at the end of the month. To add to the ones they have already done this month and look that much better to their superiors when it comes to promotion time.

Have it changed to the legal tint, then get some window louvers.



The effect will be the same as the illegal tint but "legal"

 

haha good idea i love the louvers, had them on my last mustang but im trying not to change the look of the car at all since its edmunds.com car and i want people to be able to see its the same car not just a car that looks like their car, so any mods i do will be performance only. The car came with a street scene bumper that wasnt on yet but i dont wanna put it on since that will change the look of the car.
