Default 5.4 swap

I have a 98 gt

I did a search but everytime i put 5.4 in it it couldnt find anything. I'm really interested in doing the swap. i'm looking around at getting all the parts i need.

i have a idea of what i need, the basics; motor, adapter plates for the intake, a little bit of adjusting the headers. but what else? what exhuast, can i use the one out of the 4.6? I heard the wiring harness is the same, but do you need a different computer, and will the tranny fit with the bigger motor?

I cant think of anything else right now, let me know what i'm missing. thanks for your help.

what do you think you are going to gain having a 5.4 instead of a 4.6????

It's a giant PITA.
I think it'd be easier to just build up your current 4.6L than swapping in an entire new engine.

i've been reading in to it, and the 5.4 could generate more power than building up the 4.6 i have now. i read it in the tech side of this forum, but i cant find it right now. i'll post it up when i find it.
but according to that message in the long run its a little bit cheaper and you gain a more power than you would out of the 4.6. and the torque is A LOT more, which i dont think anyone on here would complain about.

I was under the impression that the 5.4 and 4.6 had the same power tolerances? Around 450 RWHP.

Even if you do drop in a 5.4, have you considered upgrading your suspension in the front, brakes, transmission, and rear end?
