from what i read the bottom end of the 4.6 wont hold up if you decide to run boost. and the 5.4 will, because the 5.4 is forged. something like that

Even if you do drop in a 5.4, have you considered upgrading your suspension in the front, brakes, transmission, and rear end?
you dont need to do that, not anymore than you would need to with a 4.6 the weight difference is not that much, but motors use the same bore, but only the 5.4 is worth the trouble for the extra cubes, even going to a 302 (5.0 4.6) is only a gain 20 cubes, yes the rods for both motors are the same, so 450 rwhp will be the power limited, but the 5.4 makes more torque - and makes it across the entire rpm band. a nice motor would be the 5.4 and the new trick flow heads with a port job.
