Default TRANY INFO

Hey guys, just wondering about the trans in my doner car, ('84 Stang 2.3L, Auto). I've searched the net for hours now trying to find some one who can i.d. the tranny by the code. It is sort of grown up in weeds and I don't want to go to trouble of jackin' it up to inspect. TR code on i.d. plate is VYYJJ. I'm about 92% sure it's a C3 (I know ford used a "V" designation for the C3 on other applications, and I know they put it behind the 2.3's in the early to mid 80s in some apps) but I would like to be sure before I yank it. I intend to use it as a replacement (if it is a c3) for a fried A4LD in my '89 Ranger. I know the A4LD's were pretty much a C3 with OD (and a s***y trans, my family has fried 5 of 'em!!! ) and I'm hopin the C3 will bolt right up, but I've heard the A4LD'S were a one piece bellhousing/trans unit (like the C6). This would suck, as the doner has 2.3L bolt pattern and the Ranger is a 2.9L six, not a four-banger. I'f I have to go through the trouble of finding another bellhousing I'm just gonna get one allong with a C5 out of a 2.8L '85 Bronnco II (I know where one is cheap), but I've heard this will cause driveshaft complications as the C5 is supposedly shorter than the A4LD. So if anyone knows what tranny I have (or has any useful trans swap info) I would really appreciate it.
