Default '05 to '01 engine swap?

I may be able to get the engine from an '05 GT and was wondering if it would fit in my '01 GT without any major complications or if it would even be worth the trouble to begin with. thanks

Honestly, I think there are much cheaper and easier ways to gain the 40hp you'd get from the engine swap. I would not see it being worth the time or money, but that is just my opinion. Plus 2V's sound so much better than the 3V motor.

I do agree they sound better. but the engine is from someone i know who was recently in an accident and she is letting me have it free depending on how bad off her car is. and i can also do the swap at a buddy's house, so no labor cost either, except for some cases of beer lol i was just wondering how well it would match up in my car

Oh well in that case it might be worth it. I don't know what exactly it is that you will need, but I'd guess you'd need the electronics with the engine, probably tranny, and a new driveshaft. I also have no idea how the engine will bolt up, maybe someone with experience will comment.

even though it would be free in your case, i still dont think that its worth it.

IMO 3Vs arent worth the hassel.

idk. just an idea. i have the oppurtunity to do it so i figured i'd see if its worth the trouble. i'm planning on getting 3.73's this summer so i'll most likely stick to that and forget about this 3v. thanks for the input
