Default Automatic Transmission Oil Coolers

I was thinking about getting an Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler and was wondering what are the advantages of having one and not having one. I drive a 2000 Automatic V6 Mustang and I drive it really hard. And I do sit in alot of stop and go traffic when I'm not driving it hard down the road. So I was wondering if this would be a good buy or not. And if so how hard are these things to install. I was reading up on them and it said about 30 minutes to install one...but I was wondering what I would need to install one and if it's really as easy as they say to install them. Thanks for any info. MIKE

go get one. they are not hard to install. you might have to make some custom brackets and drill a few holes but besides that its easy.

I just installed it today!! They say it takes about 30-60 minutes to put it in. They have that right, but that's only if you know exactly where your going to mount it and where it can fit. It took me and a friend about 2 hours just to find out where to mount it, so that it would get good air flow but not be in the way of anything else. Every place we tried worked for a minute until we had to add something to the thing. We finally mounted it to the right side of the Radiator facing up and down. Other than that it took us about 30-45 minutes to install the rest of the stuff, and add some more transmission fluid to it. The system I bought is about 4 inches wide and about a foot long. I could have probably gone a little bit bigger but I had a hard enough time finding a mounting spot for this one. Does anyone know about how much this will help my transmission? and about what the temperature difference is with it on? Oh and I also ran it in series so it goes through both radiators. Thanks for your help. Mike
