Why are you removing the control arm?

You need to simply remove the spindle, and press out the balljoint with a balljoint press. You can rent a balljoint press at your local part store, and this procedure should take about 3-4 hours your first time through.

Why are you taking the control arm off? Replacing a ball joint is simple yet aggravating. I had to change one of mine a month or 2 ago and I just took a torch and cut it out. Be careful not to cut the control arm though. It'd probably be easier just to rent a ball joint press.

I have a Ball Joint Press, but can not figure out how to use it to remove the old ball joint. Part of the control arm is in the way. I removed the control arm because someone on this site advised me to.

Look this is the first time I ever changed ball joints, does anyone out there have instructions on how to use the ball joint press?

not the control arm, what do you call the part that the rotor attaches to? I have to remove this, right?

Just pick that up and off the ball joint and press it out of the bottom.
