Default compression test

i plan to do a compression test tomorrow sense i have the day off but had a couple of questions because its been a while since the last time i did it. anyways, do i stick a spark plug in the wire coming off the coil and let the coil spark on the block? also, wont cranking the motor so much without spark flood the motor?

thanks

find the elecrical connection on your coil and disconect so you have no spark...you will not flood the motor...you only crank the motor for about 6 seconds...

what year and motor is you car...

remove all plugs first, from all cylinders, disable the fuel, either disconnect the fuel inertia switch,or have someone hold the throttle wide open while cranking.5-6 seconds is good enough, just count the needle movements or pulses.do all the cylinders the same amount of crank time to ensure equal readings on your gauge, hope this helps, good luck with your outcome.
