Default Headlight wiring upgrade- worth it?

For anybody who has done the headlight relay upgrade, was it worth it? I remember that on my Crown Vic one I replaced the yellowed housings with new ones and threw some Xtravision bulbs (9006/9005) in there she was great at night.

Now, I know the 9007 isn't exactly the same setup (in fact its pretty floody as compared to the vic, which threw a lot better) but do ya think that I'd see a similar improvement just going with the Xtravision bulbs or would going to relays really be the ticket? Does anybody have pictures of how/where they mounted up? I have seen the Dan Stern site but just looking for real-world input here, thanks!

are you talking about upgrading the wiring harness for the lights to handle a higher wattage bulb than stock? if so then its always good to get a better wiring harness if your going to be using a higher wattage bulb because if you don't there is always a chance of frying the harness and then there is a chance of a fire which no one wants

Not to handle a higher wattage, just considering whether its worth converting to a relay setup or not... I'm really suprised that noboy around here is into this. When I was on the Camaro as well as the Crown Vic forums it was all the rage for a useful headlamp upgrade.

In any case, I scored a pair of Xtravision bulbs for $9.99 shipped on ebay, so we'll see if that makes as large a difference as it did in the vic or not first.

Edit: Just t be clear, the whole idea is that the stock wiring harness is long, small gauge wire running through a lousey switch (of course, to varying degrees). Upgrading to a relay setup uses the stock harness to switch the relays which open and close large guage wire circuits. The end result allowing the headlamp bulbs to operate closer towards the rated voltage- less voltage drop.
