I am new hear and i did a search for my problem all ready and have not had luck. When i first start up car my engine ticks, as soon as it warms up it goes away. I have an 02 v6. i dont know whether or not it is an injector or a lifter. the ticking is LOUD. anyone know what this is about?
I had the same problem with my '04 MAch1. IT may be your headers or some kind of exhaust leak. If you have a messed up seal on your heads or headers then it will tick when it is cold but after it gets hot it starts to seal itself a bit and the ticking goes away. Just have it checked, prolly just a burned out gasket...easy fix. But mine was that i had 2 missing header bolts b/c the guy who put them on was stupid and that caused my O-rings to burn out and they ticked until they got hot and started sealing back up. I got new ones put in and it sounds great now.

Switching from regular oil to synthetic would not screw your car up and is nothing buy a myth.

Very true thats crap when people say that. That sounds to me like your lifter isnt pumping up right away and when it does fill up with oil it stops. lifter for sure nothing else would go away such as rocker arm or bearings that are worn.My turbo trans am did the same thing for about ten seconds when I start it and then it goes away and it only has 1400 miles.I took it to the guy that builds 3.8 liter turbo motors that are runnning low 9s and he said not to worry. I'm still not too sure about it but I sold it so i cant hear it now

As far as the thicker oil ,I used 5-20 mobil 1 too but it did it either way.I bet if you put Lucas oil additive in it it will stop.I use it in all my trucks and boat but I never put it in the TA so I should've tried that.In my s351 I use 10x30 mobil 1 with lucas and you can tell the difference in the way it runs!!!That stuff is the ***** I recommend everyone uses it.Plus it doubles your oil life also,Great stuff try that wont hurt for 10 bucks

***Edit*** If you do use Lucas do yourself a favor and heat it with a hair dryer or leave it in the sun for a while cause its so thick it takes an hour to come out of the bottle but I'm also putting 5 gallons of lucas and 10 gallons of oil so it sucks as it is.(Cat 550 hp 2400tq diesels) talk about a 350 dollar oil chagne! We get 20 to 30 thousand miles per change with lucas
