not really, when i bypassed my smog pump a while back it felt about the same power gained as when i put my underdrive pullies in. its definitely worth it. it didnt screw with my emmisions/ drivability or anything.

Correct me if I'm am wrong, but I believe it is to mix air with your exhaust. You know the saying "Dilution is the solution to pollution".

I thought the smog pump diverts some of the exhaust gases back into your intake charge?

thats egr.(exhaust gas return)

the smog pump adds air into the exhaust. i think it helps burn more hydrocarbons or something.

i don't have emissions so no smog pump for me, but if you have emissions testing you might wanna check to see if you can remove it.

also if you still have your cats, they will clog or burn up without a smog pump.

what he said.

adds air to the mix before the cats. the catalytic reaction takes the oxygen and combines it with unburned fuel on a metal surface to make water and co2 from the unburned hydrocarbons. an excess supply of oxygen makes sure the reaction rate stays as high as possible.
