Default

If I remember correctly, Watts=Volts X Amps. And l.e.d.'s require/draw less current than a standard filament type. So, the bulb should function normally, BUT if the car has a device that monitors the circuit resistance- it may give you a malfunction light for a blown bulb (resistance increases when a bulb blows in a parallel circuit).

So, if I'm doing this right- using less current would decrease the amount of resistance (with the l.e.d. bulbs). In that case, YES, you would need to install a resistor.
