Hey guys..quick question. I have a 2008 Mustang V-6 Model. I have done a couple things to it so far and I really like the way it currently looks (Have tried to make it look more like a cobra). However, I don't really like how it sounds. It sounds WEAK! I put a Flowmaster muffler on it a few weeks ago but it just doesn't sound like what I want. I'd like it to sound more like a GT500 or a Cobra. Is this even possible? I see GT500/Cobra/GT Mufflers on eBay and what not, would this help, or are they really not all that different than the stock muffler I have? Is there something better I could go with? If anybody has any tips or ideas it would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much!!

 

The way an exhaust sounds has alot to do with the setup i.e type of headers,cross over pipe, muffler(chambered,baffled,open)..but it has more to do with the engine itself. You won't ever get a v6 to have the sound of a v8.You could spend more money and buy a dual exhaust kit with an h pipe and flowmaster catback and it will increase the sound and add an aggressive tone ALMOST like a v8 but I suspect you will still be disappointed in the sound.Best thing I can say is go on youtube and listen to other V6 cars to see what you like.

 

Thanks for the input. Converting to dual exhaust is something I've been kicking around the last couple weeks. Originally, I did exactly what you said and listened to other ones on youtube. I thought I found one I liked, but I have to say it seemed to be somewhat misleading, or i don't know..just sounds different in person. I like the way it sounds when you start it up, and I like the way it sounds when you floor it. But anything inbetween I think sounds like garbage unfortunately. I figured a lot of it had to do with the motor (obviously), but I did hear some V6's on youtube that once they were converted to dual exhaust sounded really nice. So perhaps that's something I'll look into more. But if anybody else has any other ideas/suggestions I'm all ears!
