Default Speedometer Question.

I am going from a 225/55R16 with my stock rims to a 275/35/R18 with my new cobra rims. The question is, how much is this going to change my speedometer? How many of you have had your speedometer recalibrated, and how much does Ford charge?

Answered my own questions.

Called ford and it is like $62 to recalibrate it. Also answered my 2nd question.

The stock tire diameter is 25.74 the new tires diameter is 25.578 which will actually make my sped go down, compared to the speedo. Say my speedometer says im going 50, with the new tires ill actually be going 49.7. Not enough to worry about recalibration, because fords specs have a 1-5% tolerance in the first place.

Nearly all speedometers are off by a small percentage. The speedometer on my Harley is off by 2%.

I know this because, to keep myself awake, I'd calibrate the speedometer using the mile markers while riding through Nebraska.

Haha, wish I had a bike. I'd go across country riding. One day...one day.

It's the best way to travel and the worst way to travel. To get anywhere, you really need to do 500+ miles a day, which is physically taxing. You'll encounter every kind of weather, from 120 degree heat to snow to dust storms, tornados, thunderstorms, sand storms, and other fun.

There's nothing like it, though. I have to get in a couple more cross-country trips before I'm too old to ride long distance.
