Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this but... I have a 2002 Mustang GT and it has a cobra r hood on it... I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with some cop issues I am having... A virginia cop pulled me over and told me that my hood is illegal... I read up on the laws and all I can find is "any hood scoop installed on any motor vehicle manufactured for the 1991 or subsequent model year cannot exceed 1-1/8 inches high at its highest point measured from the junction of the dashboard and the windshield."
And as far as I know it is not a hood scoop... it is a cowl induction hood... and it is a ford manufactured part that came stock on the 2000 Cobra R...

I was just wondering if any of you guys have had similar problems and if you have any information that can help me out... I want to crush this douchebag in court...

So, it's a FACTORY hood? And the cops are giving U heat over it? Geez are they gonna go ticket all the bone stock Cobra Mustangs now?

BTW, in this case a hood scoop or cowl induction scoop is the same thing,, in either case a real TALL one can obstruct your vision from the drivers seat

 

You'll have to take it to court, and show the part is a stock Ford part offered on a car that is street legal in all 50 states. Mach 1 hood/shaker would be another example of a 'stock' part not falling into that law.

 

VA cops are all a$$holes. My first and only traffic stop occured in VA. My dad was stopped in his pickup for doing 55 in a...55!! The idiot trooper thought it was a 45 zone lol. Still had to go to court though.

Take it to court and show them a picture of a 2000 Cobra R and that it was actually produced and what you have is that same hood. They really will have no choice but to throw it out. I would then also file a complaint against the trooper for being a dick.
