Default 3k mile

I just hit 3,000 miles yesterday, I don't really drive the car a lot, I was asking around, and some said since it's the first oil change it should have been done at the 1,000 mile.

I know the manual says 7,500 don't want to wait that long but some did say it would do no harm to the vehicle.

So my question is 3,000 (or is that a waste), 5,000 (happy medium) or 7,500 (or is that too extreme)?

I change my oil every 3k miles, even if it was the first oil change. I use synthetic, and being as you don't drive the car much, like me, I would go ahead and change it at 3k

Yeah most change the oil at around 1000 miles, I would just change it now. What kind of oil do you plan on running ie. dino, a blend or full synthietic?

yes thats a very good oil for price, and as far as how long you can go before changing the oil. There are way to many factors that come it to play, if your looking to get the most out of your oil. Like how hard you drive the car? Are you making lots of short trips? Are you making long highway trips? Things like that. But I think 5k or 6k miles and you should be good. If you want a real idea sent your oil to a lab and have it tested for $22.

I don't drive it very hard, it happens on rare occasions just for fun. But during the week it's very short distances, and weekend unless I'm going somewhere a bit far.

As far as the lab testing where do I go around to send it?

The 3000 mile interval is for normal driving.

If you take your car out just as a nice weekend cruiser it may take you months to reach 3000 miles. In that case, use the time interval.
