yes but the car will start and run until the battery dies and without the alternator you will not beable to rechasrge while running down road. so you can run a battery dead and replace it everytime or have an alt. the alternator is not the problem here. like as stated above: check all electrical connections and spark plugs/wires

Sometimes people should just not respond!. Is the starter in a dead spot did you try to whack the starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key forward??Did you try to jump the starter solenoid with a screwdriver? And what would the spark plugs and wires have to do with anything???????????????????He said it just clicks when he turns the key ,Its either the starter solenoid or the starter Period.

i ran a jumper wire from the starter solenoid to the battery and it just clicked. so one would assume the starter is bad but it is not. i took it to autozone they checked it and worked fine. i got home and ran jumper cables to the starter while it was out of the car, ran a jumper wire to the starter and it worked fine. i put the starter back in the car and it will not work. so when i get home i am going to check the wire that goes from the battery to starter and i am going to check all grounds and see if this works. any other suggestions?

Put a screwdriver between the two post on the starter solenoid and I bet it starts. It will spark when you do it though so be ready.Oviosly while someone holds the clutch in so the nuetral safety swith is activated it could also be that switch

See if you can borrow a load tester to ck bat, that would give you a better indication then a voltage reading alone. Did you try jump starting ?You can disconect the bat & jump right at the starter, just make sure to ground the neg cable.
