Default time for new paint

alright...im a college student with a 93 mustang gt. It runs good and everything, but starting on the front bumper to the hood, across the roof, and along the spoiler and hatch, the clear coat is coming off. its like my car has dandruff, with pieces just falling off. you can peel it off really easy. so i wanna get a paint job done. i'm expecting a good paintjob to cost around 1500-2000...is that about right?

and im kinda wantin to maybe paint it a different color. right now its red, but im kinda thinking about getting it some shade of orange. whats yall's opinion on an orange fox?

and will it be much more expensive for the color swap? i want the engine bay, door jams, everything to be painted. will 2000 cover all that?

thanks

matt

the color change is gonna cost more than $2k if its done properly. you might be able to get backyard bob to paint it for that much, but not a decent shop. i had my 94 vert repainted and i didnt have door jams or anything done and it was still $1300. And that was just by a run of the mill shop, i got quotes up to $2400. so id expect to spend about $3k if you want a decent color change. but, competition orange would look nasty on a fox.
