Depending on how soon your gunna put your 5.0 in you might want to beef up the suspension a little bit and possibly the driveline. I'm not sure how strong the stock suspension and driveline in the 2.3's are. But if you want gears right now for a fox body 4.10s are pretty steep gears if you still want to drive it on the freeway or highway, 3.73s are the way to go if you want a good street/strip gears. They will work best with a 5-speed, if you have an auto mabe 4.10s like you said and a torque converter.

yeah i have an auto, the suspension i will change when i make the conversion because im think about buying a doner car and stripping it of what i need suspension, rear end, engine and all eng accessories i need, tranny (prefferable manual) etc. but will the 4.10's make a big diff? i mean obviously its still not going to be a beast and i dont expect it to be but i will notice better acceleration wont i?

also the rear on the 2.3l's is 7.5" right?

honestly man take a gander at the gears thread at the top of this forum....pretty much answer any and all questions on gears there. razarr69 may be correct but he may not. After coming into contact with so many ford vehicles through friends and family i have noticed they pretty much use whatever is available...you may have the same suspension as the 5.0 model but don't quote me on that one.

Yeah I'm not the most expierenced yet haha, but as justingt said if you got 4.10s mise well put them in but I'd do a little more research and ask people how they liked the different ratio's. But yeah you should notice a differeince in tha acceleration. My buddies car had the stock 2.73s in it then he put in 3.73s and it was a major difference, he has a 5.0 tho. Since its an auto tho I'd go with a 4.10s prolly, and yes tha 2.3 has the 7.5 rearend.
