Default Parking Brake

I got a 2000 ford mustang witha center parking brake. The brake does not hold the vehicle in place. I have already looked it up in two manuals but no luck. any suggestions

does it not grab at all, or just not very tight? i know mine isnt very tight, but it does engage somewhat. if it is not very tight then it will probably just need adjusting (there is a screw that holds the cable on) and also i have heard that these cars have a self adjuster where if you drive backwards with the brake on then it tightens the cable (not 100% on that though). if you arent getting any engagement at all then you might have a broken parking brake cable.
